Vedanta Ashram : Introduction :
Vedanta Ashram, Indore
A Modern Gurukula for the ancient wisdom – in Central India
Introduction of Vedanta Ashram
Vedanta Ashram was established in 1992 in the Sudama Nagar locality of Indore city by Poojya Guruji Sri Swami Atmananda. Initially it was named as Vedanta Kutir, and the objective was just to provide a place of living for Poojya Guruji Sri Swami Atmanandaji and P.Swamini Amitanandaji. Accordingly two small plots were taken in the outskirts of the city, at that time it was not only a quiet area but cheap too. Place for sadhana & bhajan for 2-3 people were made, and the Gruh Pravesh Pujan was done by Sh Avinash & Ritu Dutta of Mumbai on the Dasshera Day in 1992. Thereafter the development of the city was fast and now the area cannot be called outskirts of the city. The Ashram also kept on growing as per the needs and today it is aptly called as Vedanta Ashram. Postal Address of the Ashram is 2948-50, Sector-E, Sudama Nagar, Indore-452 009. MP, India
It was decided to have a small number of students to learn Vedanta, and the first Vedanta Course was started here. Accordingly the infra-structure was increased a little, and again a bit more & more, depending upon the needs of the work. Today Vedanta Ashram is built on three plots, and has infra-structure to comfortably accommodate 25 students, with all the accompanying infra-structure of class-rooms, halls, library, rooms for Mahatmas, guest-rooms, dining, temple, kitchens etc etc. Today there is a beautiful temple of Lord Shiva – Bhagwan Sri Gangeshwar Mahadev. The whole place is run & managed by a registered charitable Public Trust called Vedanta Parmarthic Sewa Trust.
Today we proudly see Vedanta Ashram as – a Modern Gurukula for the Ancient Wisdom of Advaita Vedanta.
Vedanta Ashram is also the headquarter of the International Vedanta Mission.
